Shelter is one of the basic needs that human beings
require most. Currently, most of the dwellings in
Starehe are in need of major upgrades especially in
the sprawling slum areas.
I believe every person in Starehe has a right to
decent affordable housing and it is within our reach
to achieve this goal.
I see a Starehe where slums have been upgraded to
decent housing units, a Starehe where there is
proper utilization of community land, a proper
drainage system, flowing water, electricity and
other basic amenities rightfully due to its
citizens.
Solutions to poor housing
Slum Upgrading is crucial in developing decent
housing.
Redeeming grabbed public utility land. Any land that
was set aside for a public good e.g. playgrounds,
hospitals, clinics and schools should be put to use
for that very purpose and nothing else.
Proper utilization of community land will help
improve the living standards of the locals.
Initiate private sector participation in developing
facilities within the society. This will include
partnering with NGO’s, local and international
organizations in bringing proper housing to Starehe.
Conclusion…
I promise to provide leadership that is ALL
INCLUSIVE where by all parties (stake holders)
participate in decision making and development of
the constituency.
I plan to implement and institute a true people
oriented leadership that is sensitive to the
opinions and needs of the people at the grassroot
level. My leadership will be transparent to the
people of Starehe.
Starehe Success Story (Triple S) is my vision which
I am passionately endeavoring to achieve in the
coming years.

representative of the people of STAREHE.
