Unemployment happens to be one of the most
devastating problems affecting not only the people
of Starehe but Kenyans in general. Lacking the
opportunity to earn an honest and sustainable living
is a major contributor to the increase in social
ills among our society.
It is worth noting that Kenyans are a hard working
people with great abilities but suffer from
opportunity deficiency. It is my role as a leader to
create these opportunities for our people by
implementing policies that are centered on
development. The following points depicts how
unemployment negatively affects our society:
I plan to continue in my pursuit for a better more
developed Starehe by implementing a people oriented
strategy especially amongst the youth to fight
unemployment.
Solutions to Rampant Unemployment:
The youth need to be empowered not only to come up
with youth groups, but also conveniently register
them and assist the development purposes and
constructive development amongst their communities.
Create a general pool of funds to cater for the
youth training and development program by sourcing
for funds from reputable organizations both locally
and internationally. I will endeavor to put all the
resources available to me to achieve this goal.
Provision of technical management for the youth
groups in conjunction with civil society and private
sector participants.
Develop systems by continuously embracing technology
that will ensure sustainability of the youth groups
and development.
Our girls have to be enlightened on their rights and
abilities to succeed in a male dominated world. We
have to create awareness and encouragement programs
to reach out to the young girls during their most
sensitive early teenage years.
Teach and equip women in business management and how
to start businesses whether small, medium or large
scale. This will also include young women.
Women can as well be good managers and they should
be encouraged to venture into businesses.
The activities that our people can constructively
get involved in are countless and only bound by
their imagination and the efforts we put in to
create opportunities for them.
